Mohill Young Writers' Group, Week 7

This week, we explored an unusual method of diary writing. The diariy entries are all fictional, as far as I know!

We also played with Calligrams

My Wild Week by Fiona and Sandra

Monday
I can't believe it! I missed my school photograph and my hair fell out. I cut my wrist and that day I got into lots of trouble.

Tuesday
I shrunk to the size of an elephant and grew hair like a baboon. I was mistaken for a mammoth and nearly got tranquillised.

Wednesday
I was taken into a big ugly cage. Everyone feared me because I was the size of an elephant and was as hairy as a baboon.

Thursday
I got shot and am dying. I'm so scared.

Friday
It's alright now. I woke up. That was a very weird week. It is still Monday morning but I still have that test at school today.

My Wild Week by Rebecca

Monday
I can't believe it. I have just been fired from the job I loved. The new singer has the job now and I don't know why, because she is really ugly. Shh! Who is prettier than me? Madonna?

Tuesday
It is now even crazier. She is number 1 and her singing is horrible. I was number 1 last week and everyone loved me.

Wednesday
I must be even crazy. She is now richer than me and she has only been out a week. Now she has the biggest house in England.

Thursday
It's one of the Queen's houses, one of the biggest ones in the world. It has a big window full of flowers and it has her name on it.

Friday
Ah! It is alright now. I have just brought out a new cd and I am number 1 again. I am now one of the richest people in the world again.

Monday
I can't believe it. Queen Maeve's at it again. She has stolen the brown bull of Cooley and she's going to start another war. Oh well, I'd better get my sword, spear, bow and shield. It's battle time.

Tuesday
Oh great Dagda! I've got to fight my foster brother Ferdia. Bah! I don't want to kill him. I'll go and kill 100 of Maeve's men each day.

Wednesday
I've fought Ferdia all day. We're both injuring ourselves. I'll kill another hundred of Maeve's men tonight. Tomorrow I'll take no chances. I'll take the Gae Bolga.

Thursday
I killed my foster brother. I stabbed him through the heart. He was fatally wounded as he tried to brain me in the ford.

Friday
It's alright now. Maeve's given up but she managed to get the bull. The bull fought the white bull of Maeve's hubby and now the two bulls are out to kill each other.
What a week!

My Wild Week by Tracy and Deirdre

Monday
Deidre found a tin. It was when we went to visit Lough Rynn house. It was in the mazes. It was just a silver tin that flashed. There was a silvery dust inside. There was a note inside that said to sprinkle it directly over you head. I think we might try it. I wonder what it will do?

Tuesday
Guess what happened? The dust made us invisible. We pulled our teacher's hair. There were people playing football. We picked the football up and ruined their game. Thet ran off when they saw the floating ball.

Wednesday
We are worried. When will the dust wear off? Our parents have reported us missing and called out the Gardai.

Thursday
We are going to search the library for spells to make the powder wear off. It is difficult at home. We don't want our parents to think the house is haunted.

Friday
It's alright now. We went for a dip in the lake. We are not invisible anymore. The powder washed off. No-one is going to believe what has happened to us all week. How will we explain?

My Wild Week by Aoife

Monday
I can't believe it. A man gave me a glass bottle of orange that had fallen on my toe on my way to school. I was going to be late again. I had already got a warning from my teacher. I wished that she would be nice. When I got in she was nice.

Tuesday
The next day, I came in early and she gave out to me. It was really topsy-turvy. When I sat down, I wished I could go to a funfair and meet Pink. All at once, when I closed my eyes, it happened.

Wednesday
I realised that every time I wish for something it happens. I can go to parties, meet celebrities and loads of other things.

Thursday
I didn't use much magic today. I had a wash and cleaned my feet really well.

Friday
Today I wished for loads of things but nothing happened. I realised that the man had put magic liquid on my feet to make wishes and yesterday I washed the liquid off. The magic has gone but it was a class week.
